When I was tasked to write a script for trimester 3 I thought about going to genres that appeal to me or I feel I understand the genre enough to pull off a not bad script but then I thought that nothing good ever came out of living in one’s comfort zone, so I decided to challenge myself and write in a genre that I have not attempted before to hopefully build my overall skills in writing – an area I want to improve on which lead me to writing a romance/ drama script.

Some of the main issues I faced when writing the script was trying to create an authentic story that made the audience feel something, the main way I was going to do this was by giving the film a sad ending but that idea was scrapped as I feel I didn’t have enough time to really develop the character to the stage where the audience would be emotionally invested in him, then in the second draft there wasn’t enough stakes with the story the ending was best put as eh. So I went out to rewrite the lead up to the big massive climax and although it began to kind of flow and not feel as if the scenes were being rushed after I finished reading it, I was too straight forward and this was pointed out by a few others, which was good, overall I felt I took on the feedback of others well, I just could have done better to implement the changes into my scrip, if I had worked a little more on refining the ideas I feel I would eventually get the story to where I feel is right, overall I learnt the script writing is a lot harder than I expected and it is something I really want to work on improving in my personal time.
