Within an industry driven by creativity it is important that ideas and products [Films, music etc.] stay fresh and don’t stay stagnate which could lead to having a boring creative industry.
The most obvious reason to collaborate especially in the day and age of social media is that creatives will be able to share their work and audiences encouraging followers of one creator to go over and look at other creators leading to growth in audience size, reach and influence. One of the top reasons as to why collaboration is important is the ability to bounce around ideas with other creatives, often sharing ideas with others is not only a great way to get the word out about a project but the best ways to gather others opinions and ideas about the project(s) which would lead to a better off overall product for the end customer or audience.
But there is always issues that may arise when not only bring new people onto a project but even when starting a project with another creative, we all have dreams and visions for how we want our works to look like and often we are not all on the same page or have a different creative vision – after all a good creative is someone who thinks differently, so clashes are going to happen in the creative field especially when collaborating with other creators that’s its important before collaborating everyone has clear intentions as well as a clear leader for any collaboration, this will help lead to more efficient and effective collaboration.
If you’re still sceptical if collaboration is a smart thing or not, let’s take a look at some businesses that came together and their successes through collaboration.
1. Red Bull and GoPro ‘Stratos’
When Red Bull wanted to jump from the edge of space they had one issue, how where they going to film it? Fly a film crew to the edge of space….? Instead they partnered with GoPro and use their camera technology to broadcast the event world-wide, getting picked up by literally all news stations and gathering over twenty million views and the attention to both brands which would lead to sales.

2. Apple and Mastercard 'Apple Pay'
Another successful collaboration is the one of Apple and Mastercard, when apple wanted to release a ‘new’ technology throughout their products which allowed their customers to pay for products with their Apple device Apple ran into an issue, they might have a heap of money but they don’t own a bank ‘or so we know…’ so they partnered with Mastercard so that customers with Mastercard could link up their accounts with their Apple device, now this may sound basic and possibly nothing groundbreaking if Apple asks to work with you chances are you’re going to say yes and sign on the dotted line, but this help grow both brands as many new customers moved to Mastercard just because the ease or using it with their phone which lead to another successful collaboration.

To end off, if you’re a creative I would suggest looking for others you could work with to develop an idea as it might be the next big thing… and even if it isn’t collaboration is a great way to see how others work and think.
I’m going to say as a creative I’m always open to collaboration you can contact me if you’re interested in a collab, also don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
